What is required to be a traffic controller?
  • You must know the requirements of becoming a traffic controller who can efficiently handle road traffic and pedestrians. The first one would be undergoing a course and getting the ticket for allowing you to apply for the post.
  • Basic English language skills for efficient communication with people and with clarity.
  • A driver’s license obtained on the day of the course
  • Unique student identifier for getting all the details of your tickets and certificates to be eligible to enrol for the course
  • You should have obtained a Blue or white card for applying for the post
  • If you do not have the required documents before applying, you will not be eligible for joining the course

  • You should also know how to convert a tense situation into a funny one by acting quick on it.
  • Your entire focus should be on fulfilling your duties properly and smoothly and ensuring the safety of the staff working with you.
  • Remember that proper safety training, perfect knowledge and ability to follow the best and “correct safety procedures” can reduce the number of accidents.
  • Various aspects such as road marking, roadside signs, overhead signs, display and electronic boards help in controlling traffic. Learn all about them.
  • Speed limit symbols are to be learnt thoroughly to ensure smooth passage of traffic for the motorists and the pedestrians.
  • Speed humps that are meant to reduce over speeding are very essential to ensure smooth controlling of traffic.
  • Remember that the primary objective of controlling traffic movement is to enhance traffic flow in different directions - confirming safety…to minimise or eliminate accidents.
